The shifts required in 2020 and into 2021 are indeed unprecedented.  They also provide tremendous opportunity to do better and differently in this next chapter of our individual, and collective, lives.  Many of us, and our companies, were scrappy and figured out how to keep things moving when we were thrown into remote work.  But, many groups merely lifted and shifted their schedules into Zoom rooms.

Is this about transformation?  We prefer “evolution.”  With a key focus on asking, “What could we be doing better or differently?”

Is Your Fear Fake?

I heard a cool acronym for “fear” recently and I love and hate it at the same time.

Fear can be exaggerated, sure.  But I don’t want you to dismiss its messages, as we always have something to learn.  By listening and shifting, we can begin to reclaim our voice, leverage our power and make an impact!

The Skinny On Fear

Fear is a daily occurrence for us.  On a large scale, if we’re in unhealthy relationships or environments.  But micro-occurrences can also cause us to react from a place of fear in the moment.   What irks me about all this is that it alters how we feel, quiets our strength and voice, and ultimately affects the impact we have on our career and life.

Reclaim Your Voice at Work

Companies are diligent about sharing their values, big goals and often even the rules of engagement.  These are typically pretty straightforward. What can be confusing are the unspoken rules at work. The underlying messages that exist, but aren’t shared, can jam us up in both our work and in our work relationships.

Over time, we tire of the confusion and we get discouraged.  We stop speaking up. We accept the status quo and bite our tongue.  But who is that serving? It’s time to reclaim your voice using two simple strategies for confidence and impact.
